- Earth Imaging
- A great graphical view of the Earth with the Sun line displayed. Great for checking the "Grey" line. This is a beautiful display and there is even some user configuration that make it more useful. Be sure to take a look. That however is only part of this site. Whatever you do, look around at the rest of the site too. John Walker has put together one of the most interesting sites on the web and it is a real experience. Make sure you stop at the Titanium Cranium pages. John is a little acerbic and it may convince you to never write another email to a web site author again.
- Federal Communications Commission(FCC)
- Yes, that FCC! Good information about the Federal agency that administers all of the radio services including amateur radio. Just revised recently. Much nicer site. Faster too.
- MAARS
- No, thats not poor spelling. It stands for the Milwaukee Area Amateur Radio Society. MAARS operates the 145.130 repeater in Milwaukee. 145.130 is a very wide area repeater located on the UWM building on the East side of Milwaukee. Nice group of people and a very nice looking web site.
- Milwaukee Repeater Club
- This fine club operates one of the great repeaters in the Milwaukee/SE Wisconsin area. Well known in the area as the "Friendly" repeater. They work especially hard to welcome newcomers to the 2 meter scene here in Milwaukee. A nice, well thought out web site to showcase the club.
- Ozaukee Radio Club
- The Ozaukee Radio Club is based in the county just north of Milwaukee. A very active club with three open repeaters, monthly meetings and hamfest held in May. A group of very enthusiastic club members.
- QRZ.COM
- qrz.com is one of the most popular ham radio oriented sites on the web. It has a great callsign lookup, forums, and a place to sell or buy used radio equipment. Lots of things to look in on.
- Radio Amateur Satellite Corp. (AMSAT)
- This is the organization that brings satellite communications to the amateur community. In conjunction with similar organizations around the world, they engineer and build the satellites that have provided so much excitement in the amateur universe.
- Tucson Amateur Packet Radio
- TAPR. For all the digitally oriented hams out there, (and who isn't these days) here's the people who started it all in the US.
Scanner Stuff

- Earthquake Information
- This site has a map of California with almost live indications of earthquake activity. How many do you think there were last week and maybe even yesterday? Then take a look around the rest of the site for more information.
- Heavens Above
- A very interesting site for for satellites and astronomy. You are able, for an example, to identify your location and get a list of all satellite passes for the next 24 hours. Lots more.
- Hubble Space Telescope
- This is one of the most exciting sites I have ever found. Not only does it have some of the greatest pictures of our solar system and of deep space, but make sure you look at the real time position of Hubble at
http://liftoff.msfc.nasa.gov/realtime/jtrack/3d/
This is one of the more amazing web displays I have ever seen. Try everything that is listed on the main page. Truly a wonderful piece of programming.

- Star Gazer
- Jack Horkheimer is nationally syndicated on PBS and distributed on USIA Worldnet amoung others. A very nice popular look at Naked Eye astronomy.
Weather
- The Weather Channel
- Brought to you by the folks at The Weather Channel on cable TV. A VERY well executed site with a lot of information for anyone the least bit interested in the weather. Aren't ham radio operators interested in the weather, like wind and ice storms?
- Lightning Storm Display Map
- I'm sure you have seen this on the 10:00 news and weather, now see it on your own computer. This is a grid map showing lightning across the US.
- NOAA
- This Noaa site will provide you with information about where there are National Weather warnings. Refreshed for all catagories every 60 seconds.
